Olympic Torch on its way!
Three-times Olympic Gold medallist Ben Ainslie will officially start the 70 day journey of the Olympic Flame tomorrow (Saturday) which means in less than two weeks it will be here in Wigan!
It will arrive in the borough on the afternoon of Thursday May 31 as part of its tour around the country before the Olympic Games in July.

Bogus tree surgeon cons elderly woman
A man claiming to be a tree surgeon has stolen money from a 91-year-old woman in Wigan.
At around 10.30am on Wednesday 16 May 2012, the victim answered a knock on the door of her Milford Road home and was asked whether she needed any work completing in the garden.
The victim said no but the offender continued to put pressure on her before agreeing a price.

A man has been jailed after a man was stabbed while buying a packet of cigarettes.
Jonathan Marron (born 4/9/90), of Stranraer Road, Marsh Green pleaded guilty to murder.
