Comments Have just read the recently published The Road to Wigan Pier Revisited by Stephen Armstrong and it concentrates on life today especially for the poor and disadvantaged. It has lots to say about life in the north with quite a few references to Wigan. It gives you much to think about.Well worth a read.

Comments Message for Jane Arkwright. I was taught by Mr. Arkwright. Lovely man. I left Rose Bridge in 1974 which was the introduction to the school leaving age of sixteen at Secondary schools. I passed my English exam, thanks to Mr Arkwright. I seem to vaguely remember that he was retiring that same year.
