It is a long bus ride from Marus Bridge to Leigh, because it goes via Ashton, Golborne and Lowton, but if you return to Leigh just time for the evening rush hour, which can last all day around there, there is no easy way to get from Leigh to Poolstock by car, so as to sit in your car in traffic jams, after having your eyes messed about with, wouldn't be my idea of fun, instead I would sit on the number 10 bus to Marus Bridge and relax, and let the bus driver have all the hassle of the traffic.
You can get to Leigh faster on the bus, if you go via Wigan bus station and catch the service which goes to Leigh via Platt Bridge and Bickershaw, which can work at off peak times, but if you got the bus to Wigan at 4-5.00pm from Leigh via Platt Bridge or there is another service which goes via Hindley Green, you probably wouldn't get home until 7.00pm and I am not joking, the roads into Wigan from Hindley and Platt Bridge 'gridlock' at rush hour.
But it's down to personal choice, and what yoo are happy with
