pemberton caravans (pemberton)_

does,anyone remember working at pemberton, in the early sixtys ,i served my time there as a cabinet maker ,it was a busy place , the cab shop was in ormskirk rd pemberton, it is now a carpet place.across the road on richmond hill was the spray shop and the bedding shop,our foreman was frank glover,(sandman)also harry delahunt, machine foreman was billy hill ,works manager bob nick..we produced 150 vans a week.on a friday we as a treat used to go to rolands ,two and sixpense for a three course meal.good and hard times.....

I also served my time their, in the 60's. Then went down to Woodhouse Lane. I used to live in Orpington St; across the road, so I was very local. Still see lots of the lads, Barry Cottom, John Conroy, Les shaw, Brian Cusack, Gordon Darbyshire, Great place to work, made loads of friends, despite the poor training/apprenticeship.

my cousin, Vincent Ryan worked there, I don't know what he did. I know we met in London when he came for the Motor Show. he died long ago.

names i remember in cab shop when i worked there,in the sixtys.mel barton,joe berry ,jack heyes, mickey moss ,john conroy, barry cotton, peter fenton, joe grindley, coffee norman,bob headley,george watson, bob green,johm handley,clive uniack,jimmy winstanley, bill purden,gypsy jack,eric grey,teddy melling,alan smith,alan barlow, ralph bates,some i have forgot second names,morris on bandsaw,les on big rip saw, norman on six cutter ,jimmy on plysaw, dave from pem, jimmy from skem ,i wonder if anybody can think of others i long time ago ,i started at 15 and iam now 64...

Hi builder. I have been asked to pass on a message from Mick who worked at Pem caravans. He went off to work on the North sea oil rigs and he says he remembers these men too.


jimmy topping, malcome winard, litte eric, ronnie gray, johnny handley, colin unsworth, billy melling, frank richards (mr universe) ? crank and his dad, bernard berry, phil curner (curly) owd jack salmon who made the tea and morris on the bandsaw was morris gaskell from billinge

cab shop pemberton, in the sixtys , more names.. jimmy metcalffe,tommy moran,norman rimmer, les shaw, les riley,bill snow , ray jennings,tommy addison,burt ollerton, albert wasley,cyril liptrot,jimmy melling, roy melling,frank mc namara,jimmy seddon,bill welling,alan green, joe glover(breadman) what good tradesmen, who worked very hard, and made eric and norman rigby a lot of money....
